Spurring each other on…
Due to the transformative work of Jesus, we now enjoy unrestricted access to Him and are summoned to lead lives that reflect the essence of the Gospel. As Men of God, we are called out to worship with our lives as we live virtuously, serve others, love our wives, and anchor our kids in the Lord.
In the prevailing culture around us, numerous obstacles divert our attention and sideline us from this call.
For this reason we established COS Basecamp in Colorado Springs, CO. Recognizing a need in the area, we aspired to create a community of Christian brothers who are empowered to stand in the gap — being intentional and inventive to spur each other on as we journey with God.

“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promises. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And le us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
Hebrews 10:23-24
Why name it Basecamp?
We chose the imagery of a “Base Camp” to depict the purpose of this group. Base Camps, like the one positioned just below the summit of Everest, serve a crucial purpose. It is strategically located just below the elevation line where life is no longer sustainable (roughly 18,000). Beyond this point, climbers’ bodies start to deteriorate.

Therefore, since the Everest summit is beyond that threshold, summits are only feasible for brief “runs” that commence and conclude at the nearby base camp. Moreover, the camp serves as a hub for recovery, preparation, training, community, and encouragement both before and after climbers reach the summit. It’s essential to the ultimate goal of reaching the top.

Likewise, COS Basecamp is designed to function as a hub for recovery, preparation, training, community, and encouragement for brothers dedicated to living their lives for the Lord. We collectively invest our time and giftings to both prepare for and recuperate from the distinctive journeys (summit runs) that God has for each of us individually.
Functionally, we meet regularly, usually around food and a campfire. We reconnect, exchange stories of triumphs and trials in our lives, and provide mutual encouragement grounded in the Word.
